Conexim's Environmental Commitment
Green Hosting, green servers, green datacentres
Our partners, including the Data Centre Facility Operators and Server Manufacturers are matching our focus in providing for a greener world.
Servers Green Initiatives: SuperMicro - [more information can be found here]
Worldwide usage of Supermicro high-efficiency solutions could save $2 billion per year in electricity costs, 24 billion kilowatt-hours per year of electricity or the equivalent of 4 billion trees for the sequestration of CO2 emissions (compared to using average-efficiency servers from others).
For example, a data center with 1,000 1U high-efficiency servers could save $56K annually in electricity costs, 451 metric tons of CO2, or the equivalent of 166 acres of trees for the sequestration of CO2 emissions.
Supermicro Green Technology and Design approach includes:- Optimised system architecture created to take advantage of Supermicro’s power saving technology to produce optimal cooling at all application levels
- Motherboards designed with leading-edge technology and high-efficiency components such as VRMs optimised to reduce energy consumption
- High-efficiency power supplies designed to run at significantly higher efficiencies of up to 90%+, greatly reducing energy losses
- Cooling subsystems including advanced technology heat sinks, pulse-width modulated fan speed control, structured chassis airflow design, intelligent temperature and power management, all designed for the most effective cooling for all system components
- Low-power components such as processors, memory, and HDDs
Datacenter Green Initiatives: Equinix
In Asia Pacific, Equinix taps into natural cooling for our Sydney IBX. Using air-side economiser, natural cooling is deployed when the outside air temperature and humidity meets certain conditions.
Other Green measures include:- Implementing the most advanced data centre design that leverages the efficiencies of scale;
- Working with customers to develop equipment deployments and configurations that maximise efficiency and conservation, including hot-aisle, cold-aisle configurations;
- Harnessing external air temperature with the deployment of heat exchangers and air economisers that cool centres by bringing in outside air and air cooled water;
- Using green energy sources, such as Equinix’s four centres in Switzerland which operate on 100% hydropower;
- Aggressively implementing new designs and technologies which take maximum advantage of conservation.
