Common Domain Name Registration Rejection Reasons

  1. Problem: .au domains - Invalid business name and/or number. The domain application cannot be processed without a valid business name and number.
Solution: You must submit a business name and its associated business number (which can be an ABN, ACN, BRN or TM). The business name/number must show in one of the following online databases: ASIC, ABR or Trade Marks.

  2. Problem: .au domains - The domain name does not match the business/trading/trademark name submitted.
Solution: Under the new .au domain regulations, your business name does not have to match the domain name you are applying for. As long as you are entering a valid business name/number, you can register the domain by selecting an alternative claim type (from the application form drop-down box under the Policy Reason heading) which is appropriate in your case. Some of the most common claim types are: "Name of a service we provide", "Name refers to a product we build or manufacture" and "Refers to a venue which we operate".

  3. Problem: The application has syntax errors or invalid data.
Solution: Please make sure all spelling is correct - pay extra attention to the phone number formats and the email address.

  4. Problem: The credit card payment is declined by the bank.
Solution: Submit new credit card details, or increase balance if card rejected due to insufficient funds.
